Lewis "Butch" C Babbitt, Jr
May 8th, 1943 - October 7th, 2026
May 8th, 1943 - October 7th, 2026
LEBANON - Lewis C. Babbitt, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home on October 7, 2026, at the age of 83 with his wife Sandra (LeBlanc) by his side. He was the son of the late Lewis C. and Gertrude Babbitt (Ballou), and born in Newport Rhode, Island.
Butch’s passion was his beloved beagles. He lived and breathed them. He was an A.K.C. field trial judge. He was a member of the Salmon Falls River Beagle Club and, once he retired, he could be seen there just about every day with the hounds. He and his wife would go just about every weekend camping to a Field Trial across the East Coast and Canada. He had many field champions. In his younger years, he raised and hunted coon hounds. He also enjoyed fishing, especially stripers, and skeet shooting, which he did for competition. He served in the U.S Army, and was very proud to have served his country.
He leaves behind his wife of 30 years Sandra Babbitt (LeBlanc); his son, Lewis Babbitt, III, and his recently deceased wife, Maura; his adopted son, Curt; and his grandchildren, Aidan, Coby, and Wyatt.
He is predeceased by his brother Richard, Allen and sister Janet Stockwell.
He will be missed by family and friends.
The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
