Kristie Joyce Durgin

 

Kristie Joyce Twombly Durgin, 73, of Westbrook, Maine, passed away peacefully from cancer on July 17, 2026 with her children by her side.

Born in York, Maine, Kristie was the beloved daughter of the late Ralph Russell Twombly and Dora Katherine Twombly.

Kristie is survived by her loving children, Rick Durgin of Westbrook, Bethlynne Caiazzo of Buxton and Michelle Durgin of Westbrook; her cherished grandchildren, Madisyn, Phineas, and Elsie; and her siblings, Grant Twombly, Ralph Twombly, and Beth Milton who was also her best friend. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lynne Wiley.

Throughout her life, Kristie embraced many different careers, but her time at InterMed held a special place in her heart. She was very creative and spent much of her time knitting, quilting, doing puzzles and researching genealogy and history. Music filled her home and her heart, and she rarely passed up an opportunity to dance.

Kristie will be remembered for her kindness, her wonderful sense of humor, and her generous, caring spirit. Her radiant smile, contagious laughter, and infectious energy brought comfort and happiness to everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. She had a remarkable way of making people feel welcomed, loved, and cared for, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m at the Portland Elks Lodge located at 1945 Congress St. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather to share memories, dance and celebrate Kristie’s life.
